Indie

Back in June I blogged about my visit to Colchester for the UK Art Gallery Fabrics showcase.
I fell in love with Pat Bravo's fabrics and the companies ethos.

The quality of these fabrics is completely different to most of the other companies (it's the high thread count if you want to get technical I prefer the they just feel lovely description!) that makes them perfect for not only quilt and craft projects but garment making and home decorating too.

Indie - the latest range designed by Pat herself - is in Patch (and on the website) now.
For the first of what will be a monthly giveaway on the Patch blog, I am giving away a fat quarter bundle of all 10 of the indie prints we are stocking at Patch to one UK blog follower. (Overseas next time I promise!!)

To be included just become a follower of the blog and leave a comment telling me - and the rest of the blogging community - your biggest quilt (or crafting) disaster (happy accident if you like but let's face it sometimes things just have to go in the scrap bin!!)
I shall pick a winner on Monday 8th October.
Don't be shy!! I'm looking forward to hearing your tales of disaster!!

Liberty Lifestyle Fabrics

Liberty Art Fabrics - perhaps most famous for its, beautiful dressmaking fabrics, Tana Lawns - have launched a collection of craft cottons, a quilt weight fabric in unmistakingly 'liberty' designs.
The first one has been named Bloomsbury Gardens and has been designed by an in house designer at Liberty named Sholto Drumlanrig.
Katy from I'm a Ginger Monkey and Fat Quarterly enviably visited the Liberty design studios and you can read all about her visit here.

"Bloomsbury Gardens is a collection inspired by the historic district in London. This beautiful area is notable for its array of garden squares and historic architecture, and also has a rich cultural history. It is home to the British Museum, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and the University of London. The area also gave its name to the Bloomsbury Group of artists who met in private homes in the early 1900s.
The designs have been put together with this eclectic mix in mind and they are primarily inspired by the beautiful squares with their abundance of plants and flowers. Other design and colour inspiration has come from trips to the British Museum and also from looking at the beautiful interiors of Charleston, the home of Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell and meeting places of the artists, writers and intellectuals of the Bloomsbury Group. "

(shamelessly borrowed from the Liberty website)

I first became aware of these following Spring Quilt Market when these prints were top of the must have coming soon list! I have been excited about it since I saw the QM news and even more so since I received a swatch pack from Liberty.

The range consists of 11 designs in 5 colours, in pale and deep shades. There are tiny flowers, a larger scale floral, geometric prints and a couple of paisleys too (of course). All with 'Bloomsbury' inspired names too...such as  Virginia and Woolf!!

I can't say I *love* all the fabrics, every design is beautiful but they don't do it for me in all colourways. I also personally think that bringing out 55 designs in a collection is way too many. But at least it gives shop owners and crafters a choice! The fabrics feel slightly softer than some regular quilting cottons, which makes me wish I had a little girl to make cute Liberty dresses for!

Patch is stocking the Red colourway in both the shop and online.
I have my favourites.....
This one

And this one particularly...

All 11 designs in the red colour way are available in the shop and online, including fat 1/8 and fat 1/4 bundles.
I used a fat 1/8 pack to make this round cushion.....
.......and table runner (excluding the backing and binding) for my window display - i am looking forward to changing it already so the cushion can make it home! Or I could just make another!!

There is free delivery on all orders of liberty bundles during September if you quote libertysept during checkout.
